Research Topic: The Early History and Urban Development of Athens, ca. 725–450 BCE: Contributions of the Recent Excavations in the Athenian Agora
Brian Martens is a Lecturer in Ancient History and Archaeology in the School of Classics at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on the archaeology of Athens across all periods, with particular emphasis on the Athenian Agora, where he has conducted fieldwork and research for nearly two decades. He is writing, with John Camp, an Agora blue volume on the monuments and topography of the Agora’s north side, drawing on material discovered during the 1980–2022 excavations.
