Research Topic: Liquid Gold: The Maritime Exchange of Honey and Beeswax in the Ancient Mediterranean
Claire is a PhD candidate at Texas A&M University in the Nautical Archaeology Program, where she also earned her Master’s degree in 2021. Her dissertation work explores the honey and beeswax trade along maritime routes in the ancient Mediterranean. Claire has participated in terrestrial excavations in southeastern Kazakhstan and mosaic conservation in central Italy, study seasons at the Institute of Nautical Archaeology and Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, and underwater excavations at Marzamemi, Sicily, the Bronze Age shipwreck at Kumluca, and the Hellenistic shipwreck at Serçe Limanı, Türkiye.
