Research Topic: Iron Working in Ancient Greece: A Study of Iron Metallurgy During the Classical and Hellenistic Periods, with a Focus on Eretria and Delos

Julien is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Archaeological Sciences at the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, affiliated with the Ausonius Institute and the HeRMA Laboratory. His research focuses on iron production and circulation in ancient Greece, with a particular emphasis on archaeometallurgical analysis. During his time at the School, he will conduct fieldwork and laboratory studies on iron remains from various Greek sites, particularly Eretria and Delos, with the aim of reconstructing technological practices and investigating resource mobility from the Geometric to the Hellenistic periods.
