Research Topic: Classical Archaeology, Early Iron Age Greece, Greek Colonization and Mobility, Greek Pottery

River is a 4th year PhD candidate in Classical Archaeology at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his BA (2019) in Classics from UC Santa Barbara and an MA (2022) in Classical Archaeology from the University of Arizona. He has been involved with fieldwork projects at Pompeii, Mt. Lykaion, Nemea, and Mycenae, and he recently finished the preliminary season of a survey project (ARTEMIS) in eastern Attica. His research interests include ceramic studies, digital archaeology and GIS analysis, the archaeology of state formation, and the archaeology of central Euboea.
